gratuitous is my middle name
DUUUUDES, I realised I never posted any pictures of mah new hair. (I'm really taking this whole 'one exam left' thing to a new level.) Anyway, here goes!

This might look like a scene haircut only mad. That is because I took a picture of a scene haircut into Toni and Guy's and said, 'Please, sir, can I have some more?' It worked on the day. Not so much since.

This was later the same day ... when I'd taken out my earrings (I think because they infected one lobe; I suffer for my - something). I also thought it would be a good idea to smile. Or pretend to have lockjaw, I'm not sure.

THE BED OF BEDS. Prettiest thing since pretty, ain't it?

... yeah, that's all.

Actually ... it harbours an inherent desire to tip me off the side. I've started sleeping diagonally to avoid this, much to my mom's amusement. But. Pretty!

Ha, you should have been there the day I got it cut! She snipped triangles out of it, I swear to god. And sheared it with a razor. I lost a metric tonne of hair without it getting any shorter at all.

My college bed - the one I actually spent most time in - is a box with a mattress half a millimetre thick. I have the back problems of a seventy year old because of it.

I'm kind of afraid of mine growing out ... only copious amounts of wax keep it from blinding me as it is.

Ooh boy, if I'd gone any wilder with my hair I'd have failed the year. For reals.

However, I shall still be calling my patients 'dude.' That is le fact.

ISN'T IT THOUGH?

OH MY GOD YOU'RE A ROCKSTAR.

Your hair is supercute! And in the second picture your facial expression makes you look eerily like my best friend from elementary and middle school.

And your bed looks awesome and oh-so-comfy. I like the little spiraly bits, but then I do have this tragic (and quite inexplicable) obsession with spirals. My bed (steel! modern! sleeker than sleek!) looks quite austere by comparison. Also -- you have little reading lights on your wall! *pokes lights*

Also, Star Trek? Are you a fan of it? How did I not know this?

Also also, your eyeliner application is superb. You can do that little curling-up-at-the-corners thing. Amazing!

PUNK ROCK, BABY! At least, that's what everyone keeps saying. In between 'Hey Cher.'

Oh dear, did she have tetanus too? *blinky* No seriously, I hate my smile. And I already have wrinkles, did you see that?

My dad picked it out. He has fantastic taste. My light shade is like something from a harem. A PURPLE harem. He put up those lights too, and all the bookshelves. Of which there are many.

ahahahahaha oh. I ordered that at Christmas and haven't had a chance to watch it yet. Should I? Aside from the whole spent thirty dollars on it side of the equation.

Months of practice - and you know that liquid stuff does not come off with a Q tip? You have one chance and that's it! But I found a pencil in Tesco (that's like Walmart) that is lovely and sticky for the edges. Om nom nom Mac.

WRINKLES!? You don't have wrinkles! Not even when I click super-huge-zoom-in-larger-than-life! Also, I will use the "you're only months older than me, you simply can't!" justification.

Ahaha, I've always thought it would be fun to have a bedroom that looks like a harem. Instead, of course, mine looks like a secondhand bookstore/curio shop.

And bookshelves! One can never have enough. They always seem to get filled so quickly.

You know, I've never actually seen much of the original Star Trek. I've seen the movies and a handful of episodes of that one, compared to almost every episode of the later ones. Everything I've seen of TOS was worth it for the Kirk/Spock interaction, Dr. McCoy, the clumsy yet oh-so-radical (at the time) social commentary, and, of course, the lolz. It's also interesting to see how even though it was trying to be pretty forward about the role of women, minorities, etc, it looks so, so backwards compared to today, which really shows how far we've come. Or America has come, I've not got much of an idea of the history of social politics in the rest of the world. (And yes, whenever I sit down to watch old tv shows, I'm really just running sociological commentary through my head and paying just the barest attention to plot... this is also what happens when I watch "A Shot at Love 2 with Tila Tequila," which offers an intriguing insight into gender relations, gender constructs, and heterosexism in modern society. And is also, of course, a delightfully trashy show that frequently features half-naked boys getting beat up by hot lesbians.) But, uh, Star Trek. I'm really more into Deep Space Nine, which is darker and has long plot-arcs and kickass female characters. Because of the setup of the show, their social commentary looks less pasted on. If you ever have the time and inclination to download a bunch of DS9 episodes, I have various themed lists of episodes so you can get condensed versions of aspects of the show. And I have gone on a quest to find my lost DS9 lesbians icon so I could bring it back into the rotation specially for this comment.

For eyeliner I always just use kohl pencils because they're all smeary and fun. And I actually know what Tesco is, though I'm not sure how. Did the Spice Girls do Tesco ads or something? If so, I think that's how.

Naw, you mean I have lovely serum and foundation and concealer. My actual skin is a bunch of shit - tending to purple with the slightest cold, and blotchy.

Ooh, nice bed. I like the curly bits. What size is it? It's hard to tell from this angle.

Also, if it wants to tip you off, maybe you could put something under one of the legs, like in cafes where the table's wobbly. This may just make it more wobbly, of course.
every Starbucks should have a polar bear: Balloonsscoradh on May 19th, 2008 11:28 pm (UTC)
The curly bits own my heart.

It's a queen size? Exact measurements, I couldn't tell you.

No, see, the problemo is that the mattress is kinda funky. The bedframe itself is rock steady.

Ah, well, in that case I have no suggestions. But queen-size beds are great: I have one and I love it.

I'd have to think about this. Antique French sleigh bed? No.
Futon on a tatami plinth? No. Treehouse containing four-poster? Maybe.

Or something like this?

I love apple-y cheeks! Don't shriek, but you reminded me a tiny bit of Sophie Ellis Bextor.

OH, I WANT THAT BED. THAT IS SOSOSOSO COOL.

You can get chairs like that too - wicker hanging ones. It's a pity my room is so small, else I'd find a way to insert one.

Does she even make music any more? And no worries, I'm happy as long as the basis for comparison isn't, like. Simon Cowell.

LOL it amuses me that lately, I see RL images of people of whom I only had an internal one constructed, based on my interactions with them, and I keep getting their hair colour wrong. For some reason, I imagined you with really short (natural) blond hair. :P

Natural blonde hair? I WISH. Funnily enough, I had beautiful golden hair when I was a child. Then my mother heinously cut it off, and it grew out dark mouse, and afterwards I discovered hair dye ... so here we are!
