i'll be just fine pretending i'm not
I started my journal around the time of the Athens Olympics. Those of you of a logical turn of mind will see where I'm going with this. Now, there's no way I can offer drabbles for my lj-versary this year. If I'm lucky my Harlequin fic will arrive with Santa Claus. But I decided instead to pimp out my favourites of my own stories. Sticking around this ranch for four years is a pretty flimsy excuse to do that, but to be fair, it's not like pimps need an excuse. (Just a white suit. And a pimp cane. And a dead leopard.)

These are stories I'm proud of and that I can re-read and that, mainly, got an indifferent response. OH WELL.

Though the Night Yield No Glimmer
It's Draco/Goyle. I wrote it in three hours; it's probably the most beautiful thing I've done, and comes closest to saying everything I want to say about love and relationships and what they really are.

May Contain Nuts
Oh come on, Harry/George. It's just fun. I like nothing better than indulging my penchant for original characters - and there are droves of them. DROVES. If you can ignore the lol-terrible sex scenes, you might agree that this is my greatest contribution to HP fandom.

One Curse
In the five hours between finding out what fanfiction was and actually reading it, I formed the assumption that it was 'filling in', that it was 'backstory' and 'the untold scenes.' It's not. It's porn. But this story is maybe a homage to my ignorance: telling the tales of Peter Pettigrew's victims. (Although, of all of them, it's one I haven't re-read recently. I fear in retrospect that it is, in fact, CRAP.)

A Necessary Evil
Incest. Whee? Fujicest. I felt absolutely no compunction about writing this, which is interesting of itself. I think it's quite delicate, actually. For me.

Crossing the Rubicon
Undoubtedly the fic I love most right now. No lie. It was such fun to read, write, beta, and re-read. It's also ON CRACK, but isn't crack - I don't write crack, I swear. I don't make fun of my characters, or hate on them. (I'm not Evelyn Waugh.) It's just - writing is too important to take seriously, y'know?

The Problem with Elephants
Pure and utter wish fulfilment. I think that's why many people liked it - that, and the fact that it's original slash fiction that doesn't deviate one whit from the fanfic slash template. No funny business, no experimentation, and only UST-level angst. I'll say this for myself, my original characters aren't the worst. I could totally duke it out with Katie Price, at least.

I've pimped "Though the Night Yield No Glimmer" to all and sundry, and I think it's one of the finest stories I've ever read. :-)

Dude, I am NEVER going to complain about recs. Unless I develop some kind of dissociative personality disorder (in which case that'll be the last of my worries...)

I absolutely adored that fic then, and went and re-read it, and teared up again. LOVE it to bits.

It is probably the most beautiful story you've written and one of my very favorites. Period. And what you have to say about love an relationships? The beauty is in the truth of it.

Off to reread.

It's amazing what one can gain from pure observation. *nods solemnly*

May Contain Nuts was, in fact, the reason I friended you in the first place, I think - I <3 that story. Um, I don't think I actually commented on it at the time, though. :|

I'd ask why the hell i didn't make the cut, but i know why. You've [hopefully] never read anything of mine and it's all shit anyway.

I may read one of those in celebration of your lj-versery. I'll probably forget to, though.

No, it's mainly because I was reccing things I wrote. Myself.

Reading isn't really a requirement...
