Oh the craic we had the day we died for Ireland

One of the bigwallahs of the Ulster Unionist party hopped over to Canada there lately and married his boyfriend. Congratulations etc, I wouldn't notice one way or another BUT for the fact that this is Ian Paisley's party - the one that, in the seventies, campaigned against the legalisation (legalisation, now - can you credit it? People kill me) of homosexuality under the slogan 'Save Ulster From Sodomy'. You gotta love it. So contradictory. So hypocritical. So bloody Irish.

In other news, a boy sat beside me on the bus this morning wearing the most horrible aftershave. It smelt of flowers. It smelt of Anais Anais, people. Either he was wearing it, or they have started a male range...can't decide which is the more horrifying prospect. He had so much on I suspected he'd taken a whore's bath (you know, when boys don't bother showering and layer on the smelly stuff instead), and it wasn't like it was Lynx or something nice, HELLO? Ew. (...also, I get given out to by my mates for calling them 'boys' and not 'fellas' or 'men'. But men just conjures up images of estate cars and mortgages and childminders and buggies. Men = my father. Boys are boys and pretty. So nyah.)

Myself and Sharon were fencing with wire in sculpture today and I killed her, but she objected on the grounds that it was through her boob. She also ordered me not to puncture them as they're small enough already. Good lord.

...well, congratulations, IT'S WORKING.

Isn't that a good thing? Stickin' it to the party's past and all?

(you know, when boys don't bother showering and layer on the smelly stuff instead)

Over here we call that a French bath. And a Spanish shower is when somebody just washes their armpits with a washcloth. Dotcha just love the stereotypes? Snerk.

It prolly would be, if Ian Paisley Jnr hadn't spoken out against it, saying it was degrading and insulting and I know not what. And they, like, socialise together and everything. *sighs*

Er. I suppose at least I'm only insulting a subsection of the employment industry, and not two whole nations?

...not to mention that whore is such a FUN word to say. xD

That always makes me think of the film! Nah, Lynx for me...the effect really does work...but never Anais Anais! (I wear it too, sometimes, or Jean Paul Gaultier Woman.)

How can one call them 'men'? Or fellas... *laughs uncontrollably* Sorry.

The most mature term I use for the things is 'guy'.
every Starbucks should have a polar bearscoradh on February 1st, 2005 11:04 am (UTC)
Consider my friends are all about 20, two years older than me, and have all been in relationships for longer than I've, eg, been writing slash. Possibly they have encountered men...even made them...xD

Vair American. You should say chap. Like that gorgey chap in your icon.

And I can only say 'guys' and that is it. Anything else is weird.

Yes, that pretty much says it all, really...

'Save Ulster From Sodomy'

Oh, great. Now I have that Sodomy song playing in my head, and I hardly even know it apart from the chorus. In fact, I can't even recall where it's from... might be Meet the Feebles.

There was this guy at my gymnasium school who wore so much aftershave that even non-asthmatics like myself had trouble breathing when he passed in the corridor. Twit. Surely, someone must've told him he was a walking health hazard..? Or at least that he frigging STUNK! XP
every Starbucks should have a polar bearscoradh on February 1st, 2005 11:06 am (UTC)
There's a Sodomy song?!

In moderation, always, that's the key. I mean, a subtle amount of Lynx can fell me at twenty paces, but I don't actually want to be breathing it, thanks.

Hipocrisy is so bloody funny; but it's more political than Irish, I think. Did he really get married? Hmm... I would've thought we'd hear about it over here. Ontario media is very anti-gay, and yet the legislation prevents it so they choose to be all tongue-in-cheek ("Oh, look, Nigel, another queer got married. I wonder how long it will be until their divorce rate is 50%") I'm-so-right-wing-I-define-prude-you-nasty-little- underage-heathens, etc, etc. Of course, we technically get all our hipocrisy from the crown, anyway, so maybe it's British, by way of Ireland, straight into our little Canuckleheads. I'm laughing sardonically either way.
every Starbucks should have a polar bearscoradh on February 1st, 2005 11:08 am (UTC)
I'm sure they said he did, that he was married. Actually, its because of a Canadian gay couple who moved here and demanded married rights that we're thinking about changing the consitution to accomodate any unmarried couples. Hee.

Not to mention it could do with changing...Dev wrote that a woman's place is in the home in 1955, and apparently it STILL IS.

Speaking of hypocracy in politics (gasp!), the Republicans (Bush's party, you recall), have just announced themselves as the party that stands for civil liberties! So I guess all those people at the Inauguration with signs saying "racist, Sexist, Anti-gay, Bush and Cheney, GO AWAY" just were confused about which candidate won???

They are boys. I agree completely. Sadly, I cannot say it, either, as my friends are already operating under the misconception that I am a pedophile. Just because I think Dan and Tom are cute. (Note: apparantly, "cute" is also forbidden when describing anything other than puppies and babies. Laura's decision.)

There is nothing like art room/hardware store dueling!

Oh, OF COURSE THEY WERE! Bush, wrong? The man who said, on his return from Europe, that it was a nice country? NEVAR!

I got that too. Cute is for babies and kittens. Yup. Although you can do a lot with fine, hot, sweet etc. Trust me. I must be a paoedophile too, by that measure...xD

YES!
