I'll revisit Brideshead! Hell, I'll visit Brideshead!...(whereisBrideshead?)

I. Am. Totally. Whacked.

I am never getting a job where I have to get up before six/travel more than an hour to get to. I don't care. I'm not!

On the upside, I've enlisted for my first HP challenge! It's kind of cool, a secret Santa where you write a fic for someone...over on quiet_ones. All  madbonnycaptain's influence! So never fear, the terrible fics will return once I recieve my brief! (Dear god, I hope it's not D/Hr non-con or something...eep.)

Also: random thoughts from my day at art college! *she shakes it, baby, yeah she shakes it...needs medication*

1) Putting paint on glass, drawing something on it, and ‘printing’ it onto a sheet of paper is rather fun, but leaves too much to chance for my liking. No one, I am sure, sits down and thinks up a detailed, in-depth composition for glass printing, and therein lies the flaw in its charm. As a method of loosening up its methods are second to none. Putting paint on glass, using a roller and blobbing it onto paper, with prints from bubble wrap to break the monotony, not so much art as a foil to keep preschool kiddies distracted. I have decided I don’t have an innate liking for faffy ‘mixed media’. Daubing sugar into acrylic on tinfoil…just, why? Plus, I have to take photographs of my pepper, and have them developed BY NEXT WEDNESDAY (I don’t know where I’ll get the time for that!) just so as I can ruin them with a compass in the name of ‘photographic etching’. Lino printing, screen printing, any printing, are fun, I’m sure, but paint remains for me the most expressive of media - although I’ll confess to a regard for (proper) etching, a la Hogarth.

2) When you get past the school stage, no one is worried that smiling and being friendly will be taken the wrong way. Everything is easier. Phew.

3) A girl called Michelle and I have a lot in common. She has a deferred place for medicine at Cardiff (what is with all these medics really wanting to daub?) and like me, likes to bitch a little. Coming on too strong with this kind of thing is of course bad, but a healthy disrespect for finger-painting simply makes you elitist, I’m sure, and not a bad person…

4) A lot of us still have strings tied to old friends, which got me thinking in general. I don’t really need other people for entertainment, in so far as books and the Internet are only people-by-proxy, in essence. They certainly don’t require attention or organisation and are available 24/7. Moving around so much has numbed me to the pain of leaving familiar people, to the extent that it hardly bothers me. But sometimes I think I’d like a friend I could weather everything and confide everything with and in. Perhaps I will meet one like that someday, but until then I stick to the adage about Aries ‘makes friends easily, isn’t so good at keeping them.’ It reminds me of a quote re Mr Wickham - although I hope I’m not such a cad! ‘He makes friends easily, whether he is as adept at keeping them remains to be seen’. Or something like that. Tha’s me. But through lack of commitment rather than inherent bad nature and deviousness (or so I fondly imagine).

5) A woman on the bus on the way home had an ickle baby with her. It went off at one point. They should market babies as fire-alarms. Piercing wails, much? Now, how to program them…

6) My old school sent my parents an invitation to my awards ceremony…as their ‘son’ was getting an award. Now, *I* got Best Results…but perhaps there’s something everyone’s not telling me?

It went off at one point.

Things like this are what make me look forward to your posts.

As for the awards ceremony, I'd be for writing the school very sincerely and asking them to supply the proper dangly bits for you to fulfill the role of "son" at the ceremony.

I LOVE YOU.

What, you mean like special earrings or something? I have a pair of plastic spotted cats...hehe.

HA! I would think that if you're willing to wear those particular dangly bits on your ears, they may not let you attend...

Had a friend once who had a set as a keychain.

Although I think *technically* they may have been made of plastic...

Fingerpainting is one of those things you should do every decade or so to "revisit your youth" (that, and Brideshead, right? I wonder if it's near Maidenhead... *winkwink*) and then ignore for another ten years.
The Light Snarktasticsnarkophagus on September 22nd, 2004 12:40 pm (UTC)

They're making them out of plastic and selling them for the undercarriages of trucks now, also... What will they think of next?

Fingerpainting is fine for some, although I can't be trusted. Anything I drew would wind up being made into plastic sooner or later.........

Dude! Brideshead and Maidenhead! I started reading the book there today, y'see...there was a whole PASSAGE about a gay guy who was thrown in a pond and saying they just wanted to see him wet...these English aren't as uptight as they're made out to be. They slashed when our parents were sighing over het (well, metaphorically).

Whole range of Naughty Bear keychains in Maad shop here. Any resemblance?

Ladies and gentlemen, the high point of my life.
I do believe the HP Challenge is terrifying me out of my wits.

HOWEVER, since I have so many of them, I think I shall be fine. OH OH SNAP.

1) I think all this art talk has gone over my head. BUT NOT TO FEAR, I READ IT ANYWAY. ;D

2) *snicker* (OMG SHOULD I BE SNICKERING HERE?)

3) That's good that you're making friends, honey. *pats*

4) OMG THAT'S LIKE EXACTLY WHAT I'M DOING/WANT! I am totally awaiting the day I will find that one friend that I can tell all my secrets to and can tell jokes and hold conversations about nerdy things. Until then, however, my current chums suit me good. ;D

5) O HO, YOU ARE SUCH A CAD!

6) . . . :O!? IS THERE SOMETHING YOU'RE NOT TELLING ME!?

Re: Ladies and gentlemen, the high point of my life.
No, you shouldn't have been snickering there! I was trying to make a really meaningful sappy change of life statement!!!

...

And, no, not about the menopause.

Which HP challenge is this?

There's something EVERYONE'S not telling ME...xD

Re: Ladies and gentlemen, the high point of my life.
Oh okay. I am sorry to have denied you your very meaningful heart-felt moment. :(

I NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT THAT!? :O!?

Um, the one you signed up for, I believe. ;D But I am often afeared of strange and new things, so we should not be taking this personally, yes?

UM NO, NO I'M NOT NOT TELLING YOU ANYTHING . . . *shifty eyes*

Re: Ladies and gentlemen, the high point of my life.
Oh, I thought you were talking about another one...it's not that scary, trust me! It's meant to be about Christmas, I think. I was just being paranoid...as I am totally at the mercy of the person-I'm-writing-for's request.

All of fanfiction is strange, but I doubt if any of it is new as such, considering the mountain range of cliches that build the range of fluff...

Re: Ladies and gentlemen, the high point of my life.
OKAY. I WILL BELIEVE YOU . . . THIS TIME.

xD But Blaise/Draco/Hermione? Man, it was just established that Blaise was male, and he's already a sex icon? CRAZY.

But you are very true. (I swear, one day I'm going to go over to a fandom and write fics with the weirdest pairings possible. IT'LL BE GREAT.)

You'll get nothing if you don't bloody find your full stop button. You're worthy of Suehood, I swear to god. Of course I'm not going to ditch anyone, you paranoid strange person. I'm just saying it often happens of its own accord and you have to Be Prepared.

And because I prefer email and lj, why do I have to keep telling you this? xD
