yeah, this reminds me why I stay away from sci-fi. yet I can't stop reading it. skeery stuff.

I should go back to reading real books and stop messing about in fandom. honestly.

seem to have lost my capslock function. such a shame.

Er, don't. But yes, you should. *gestures sadly* We all should.

Capital letters, just for you.

note the use of 'i should', not something useful like 'i will' or 'i am'. *grins*

this no caps thing is really liberating, like not brushing your teeth before bed.

i will play. i won't sing. i have more respect for your aural cavities than that.
NumberNine: adorable mannyhappyreaper on June 6th, 2005 10:38 am (UTC)
Ender's Game! And sequels.

Though, the first one isn't really sci-fi. And the rest aren't much more, er, fitting to the genre.
every Starbucks should have a polar bearscoradh on June 6th, 2005 12:24 pm (UTC)
yes, i was about to say that i should credit happyreaper and anyotherknight for putting me on to it, but then i was too lazy. woe.

i'm glad they're not too sci-fi, because even the null gravity thing makes me go 'wtf'? plus, they're not six. or ten. they're just not. i'm not buying it. precocious twelve-year-olds maybe. don't tell me there's some ebil reason behind it all, i just don't want to know. it's terrifying enough as it is.

that was ... odd. no caps. mmm.

Why d'you keep changing your layout?

You and my beta have both been sodding about on Amazon. Have you read a yaoi manga called Desire'?(Illustrated by a fellow 17/3, which renews my faith in Pisces talent.)

^_^xx

'cause i'm a layout whore? *blinks innocently*

i want to! oh, how i want to. i have eerie queerie 2, 3 and 4 plus desire and only the ring finger knows on my 'to buy' list, once as i get a money order made out in dollars. it looks yummy, dunnit? anyotherknight has read it, if you want a buyer's op. :)

I, too, know the guilt of not reading "real" books. I see it in my mom's eyes every time I mention Harry Potter/JKR/SW/livejournal/fandom/fanfiction. The guilt is crushing. I wrote a poem about it.

That is exactly what happened to me when I first read Ender's Game - but you know what's next? Well, okay the next book is Speaker for the Dead and then is Xenocide, which is one of my all time favorite books. *grin* Hahaha! It's like a black hole sucking you in. *snerk*

OHMYGILL OHMYGILL.

I just finished it. I wanted to cry and cry and cry but I was in public.

They were really the buggers!!! and he was only six when he killed!!! *brain overload*

Bought the second one with money stolen from my brother and hid the only copy of the third behind a load of others so I can get it tomorrow. How's that for black holedom?

Ender's Game, is that Orson Scott Card? I've heard that the books are good-ish, but if that's the author I'm thinking of I'm a bit reluctant to throw any money his way. Something about him being wanky about homosexuality, or whatever. Ahwell.

I've got a thing for cyberpunk and post-apocalyptica. But, well, I need to be a bit careful not to ingest too much of the doom-n-gloom kind of SF at once. I was researching stuff for an essay, and started reading about the Singularity... gave me trouble sleeping for some time. But then, I suspect I may still have issues concerning the end of the world. Impressionable children and garbled versions of Nostradamus don't go well together. :/
every Starbucks should have a polar bearscoradh on June 7th, 2005 12:40 pm (UTC)
Yeah, that's him. Oh, and this, the guy who has naked boys in a space boarding school and fighting in the nude and stuff? Are you SURE?

Anyway, it's mind-blowing, and I do not say that lightly. So yeah, take care if you do take a mind to read it. Only, it's not scary, just thought-provoking. Made me cry. :)

And duuuuuuude Ender's Game. I won a free book once, and instead of picking The Ear, The Eye, and The Arm, I chose Ender's Game.

Man.

Although I've always liked it. :D

yes, so, small moment taken to tell you I really liked your terry, more than the AU city thingy, truly. however, i found your french a bit boring, and was as non-plussed by le plus grand couillon de la terre, i believe, as by malfoy calling hermy-one a mudblood. but that may just be because i am surrounded by french swearers. so, i would be plumb pleased to give any french suggestions. its such a lovely insulting language, and should be exploited to its full potential (and tête de gland is really quite humorous).
back in plot: my favorite part was his obssession with skin. how would that translate to other life situations? being extremely unprudish, i thought it was brilliant.
