Good thing I wore a corset, for my sides are splitting!
THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION. IT IS IMPORTANT. IT IS A QUESTION. AT THIS POINT YOU SHOULD ONLY BE FILLING THE VERY EDGE OF YOUR SEAT.

Has it ever been conclusively stated in canon what colour eyes the Weasley clan have? Blue? Or brown? (Or orange with wee purple sparkles?)

ALSO.

What does SWAT stand for? As in, the team.

IT IS VITAL TO MY CONTINUED EXISTENCE THAT I AM TOLD THESE THINGS!

And now, a rec.

Dance Fever, by lizardspots. See Spot run. See Spot run to see the purty art! Ayhumm. I seriously ♥ to infinity the colours in this. And the piercings. *guilty giggle* It is rated PG-13, but take note: it's Fred/George, so maybe incest automatically ups that, I don't know.

I wonder if I could prod some Weasleycest out of kabeyk, or would she hurt me with sticks for saying that?

NOT TO BE FORGETTING MY QUESTIONS, NOW, PEEPS. HOMIES. POSSE. AMIGOS. I LOVE YOU, NOW TELL ME THE ANSWERS.

Ron - blue - stated in an interview.
Ginny - brown - in the beginning of Chamber of Secrets, if I remember correctly.

Alrighty then. *ponders* Trying to recall my genetics. Brown is dominant, so there'd have to be at least one parent with blue eyes to give it to Ron, unless he's a throwback. There might be more.

Thank you, darling! *mad schnoogles*

According to the Lexicon, Ginny has light brown eyes (CS) and Ron has blue eyes (an interview).

SWAT = Special Weapons And Tactics.

Now, a question back at you. Do we know, in canon, whether Harry is short-sighted or long-sighted?
every Starbucks should have a polar bear: Beastscoradh on December 29th, 2005 01:37 pm (UTC)
And they're the only ones? Mmm...

Ahaha! I was close. *prances with Teh Smug*

Hmm. I have never seen it written, and trust me, as a speccy git myself I'd have taken note of that sort of detail. When he takes his glasses off in the girl's toilet and Prefect's bathroom, he sees things as blurry. I reckon that'd make him short-sighted, because I'm short-sighted and most everything's blurry to me. If either of us were long sighted, we'd be able to see far-off detail without our glasses.

By short-sighted I'm reading myopic, because I always get the common terms mixed up. :)

All this talk of genetics and alleles and dominant and recessive genes has taken me back to my GCSE Biology times, not very happy ones either. And I completely understand the whole glasses issue, I'm as blind as a bat or worse, something that will not help my future aviation career but at the moment us just under the guidelines. I hate the panic attacks (and yes I get those) when I can't find my glasses in the morning, it's scary. AND PLEASE GET SOMEONE TO WRITE FRED/GEORGE WEASLEYCEST!!!

Ron and Ginny don't have the same colour eyes, what the fuck? JKR is such a muppet sometimes. I have always assumed they both had brown eyes, I think.

Don't do twincest (can't work out if it's just like doing it yourself, or massively sick and wrong), and to be honest I prefer het incest, so any one of the boys/Ginny is it, really.

It's not hurt with sticks, it's 'kill with sticks'. Eddie Izzard. :P

Well, they wouldn't necessarily, as we have ascertained with our massive knowledge of genetics. Eee.

I can't ever say it's massively sick and wrong, not after The God Of Small Things (and that one the Booker of Bookers, so nyah). Fair enough. Personally I can't stick anything much with Ginny in. :P

YES BUT I SAY HURT WITH STICKS. I AM NOT OF THE MURDEROUS TENDENCY YEAH.

What? I love it! It's been on repeat for hours! And got two mentions on lj, which has been unheard of since the Caesars' Jerk it out.

I realise that in the 80-something comments this already has, someone will have told you the answer. However: blue eyes. I do not wish to phone a friend. Weasleycest? I do wish to be sick now. THAT IS REVOLTING. Then again, the fandom is a fairly twsited place, so... go ahead! Enjoy the warped fantasies of others! Because it's fun!

And SWAT. I don't know, Sick With Acromantula Teasin'? Sleep With All Twins? You choose.

Good luck with your continued existence (which you cannot, actually, spell; I don't know if you wanted to know that. People usually don't. But you never make spelling mistakes, so it freaked me out just a little.) and all that. Let us know how it goes.
every Starbucks should have a polar bear: Draculascoradh on January 1st, 2006 09:35 am (UTC)
Yes, the audience has voted; blue it is.

Revolting?

Well, not if you explore the intricate issues surrounding two people who have a somewhat mythical mind link, who are so identical that they are like two halves of one person, and the tragic love of brother for sister as espoused by Gladiator, A Song of Ice and Fire and The God of Small Things.

Not that it happens in fandom, of course, because it's only for PORN! YAYE!

Something about weapons, I believe. :)

No, always let me know things like that. But in fact, it's my computer's spell check that can spell, as well as general dumb luck. Myself, I can't spell for toffee.

So I was popping over to read more of Three Steps Back, and when looking at your tag, I noticed you have Weasley Genetics, which is great, because I'm FASCINATED by Weasley genetics and just wrote a Harry Potter themed midterm for my intro biology students.

The genetics of eye color are more complicated than a single gene, unfortunately. (Which is why I didn't include it on my midterm.) It's even more complicated than a two gene model, but the two gene model can explain blue, green and brown eyes, and seems to be one of the most commonly used.

http://www.thetech.org/genetics/

This is a fun gadget that demonstrates eyecolor inheritance, assuming the 2 gene model.
