big bang in da house
I FINISHED it. Because I fucking RULE AT LIFE and my flist are vile enablers.

And now: beta time.

This fic is due in quite a short time - the day after my birthday. That's just over a week. The last time I posted a beta-call, quite a few people offered; but they were conscientious and took their time, or didn't get back to me at all. I get that people just want to read my stuff or whatever, and it's flattering (if WEIRD), but what I need right now is:

someone who'll read this, do the bare minimum of beta work and turn it around fast. Like, within a day, or two, max. As usual for my stories, it's all over the place and the end is a clusterfuck of awful. (I'm noted for it.)

I want to get this baby on the road by Thursday at the latest. If you have a RL window of a few hours, and would be willing to waste it so, please offer now. If you just want to read the stupid thing, you can wait another few weeks, or (if it's deemed unworthy by the mods - I never reported that they said they'd consider it because of my tenure but would prefer it to conform more fully to the guidelines, did I?) days.

Thanks in advance, flistmeisters. ♥

happy early birthday!
I would offer to beta, but that's because I LOVE LOVE LOVE your writing and mostly want a sneak peek. And I'm not known for my quick turnaround times, so ... *sits on hands and tries to wait patiently for the BBB reveal*

Anyway, congratulations and I'm really excited to read your fic.

the end is a clusterfuck of awful. (I'm noted for it.)

Not a clusterfuck of awful, no! But I have noticed that your endings can sometimes be rather abrupt or suddenly veer the story in an unanticicpated direction. I'd be really curious to learn your reasons for this, because you're such a skilled storyteller that I've been assuming it's just part of your personal aesthetic ... maybe you like subverting the expectations of your readers?

Anyway, I'm so excited that you've written a new novel-length Harry/Draco. *twirls in circles* I'm off to re-read one of your old fics in celebration.

Re: happy early birthday!
Thanks for the offer, but as it turns out I do have a couple quicker people. Any other time, though, I'll put you on beta speed dial. :D

It's mainly because most fics sort of end on a dribble or a sigh, and I prefer a bang. Once the Traditional Angst and Obstacle have been Overcome, it's obvious what happens next. I prefer not to be that obvious. Also, sometimes I like to end things unusually - like all the fics where people don't end up together. I know only geniuses are supposed to write unhappy endings, but. I don't care.

And while I'll admit I lost my way a bit on TRLT, in most fics I know exactly how I want it to turn out from pretty early on. People just don't like the ends sometimes. What can you do?

Hee, have fun!

i love doing pre-reads for people and i'm usually ok at picking up spelling mistakes/word misuse/sentencey things. but i completely fail at punctuation and the niceties of grammar. so it depends on what you want it for.

i won't be offended if you'd rather a spag nazi get it (i love spag nazi's! i'm just not one). but if you would like me to give it a once over let me know. i could look at it tonight. (my time)

Mainly? I just want someone to beta it so I can say someone's beta'd it. How about I send it over, and if you've time in the next three days do it. Any advice is welcome.

What's your email?

How long is it?

Yeah, I'd like to know that myself.

Also, is it horribly depressing because I really can't do with that right now. :/

I always thought it was more fun to read fics when they weren't horrible, personally. :D

Well, obviously it wouldn't be horrible. You've written it. But if it isn't designed to tear my heart out, than by all means, send it my way and I'll have at it.

If you still need someone, sure. We're cutting it a little close if you want it by Thursday, but I'll do my best.

I'll just take it at ihikago @ gmail.com since I have that one open just now ;p

To be honest, I don't actually need anyone else by now. However, if you wanted to read it and give me a general feel for it? Or just read it? I'm pretty easy with the whole virtue thing. :D In any case, I might put you on file for future beta work?

lol. Well, in that case, I'll just wait until the official reveal XPP

Sure, sure <3

I WOULD TOTALLY LOVE YOU TO DO THIS. You were such a cool beta before, I remember. It's 50,000 words - I'm not sure if that's horrendous or not. And it could probably do for Thursday, anyway. Emailz?

If it's not a novel, I've got time this weekend. Presumably two is better than one, so I'd be glad to second-beta. I'm pretty fast when giving feedback on plot is not required.

I'm reliable when I commit.

Weeeeeeelll, it's 50,000 words. Not a novel? Yes a novel?

If you're still interested, gimme your digits and I'll send it over. :D

you just squeaked under by 10,000 words. Makes me feel better about the length of the DH hols fic I wrote, anyway.I'll do my best, but of course the fast reading may mean I miss a couple of things....

Great! As for what I want ... anything you think it needs, basically. Probably a flamethrower. It's mainly so I can say I've beta'd it, if you know what I mean.
