Not at all how I thought it would end, but that's why I like reading your stuff. Thanks for writing and sharing this! I really enjoy your AS/S.

This was such a great fic! There were so many things I loved about it, starting with Scorpius dying his hair (hehe) and Albus' skin problems (what? I'm just cruel that way.) No, actually, I just liked it that people usually don't dare talking about pimples for fear they'll render their characters unattractive and thus, unlikeable. I loved that Scorpius' little sister (now I'm doing a Ron... Celery?) likened him to cauliflower and it was a positive comment. LOL I enjoyed the interlude with Conan, and figuring out what Scorpius was up to. (Okay, I'd never have guessed Hugo. I thought it was Conan -- before he asked Al out to a date.) I loved Lily. (She was a bit like I was watching Six Feet Under. haha) I was a bit afraid of the last part, because it seemed that you're going to only reference of the part where they get together and gloss over the details, but you didn't. yay! Well, I'd have liked to see what happens afterwards, especially with introducing Rosemary's baby and making Hugo find the first thing in his life that he loved (well, personally, I thought he had a bit of a crush on his sister, but that's neither here nor there). Um. So you absolutely cannot be persuaded for another sequel? (Like, what happens to Albus' confidence when the skin problems come back, will Rambo and Norma ever get together, and I'd love to see what becomes of Lily. And Hugo and Rose of course.) Anyhow, this was great and I loved it to bits. I'm glad I waited with reading it until it was completed or else I'd have gone mad with having to wait. ;)

SIX FEET UNDER! Hahaha yes. I remember in the first fic I ever wrote (Hermione/Draco, ye gods), spending a lot of time during the first kissing scene describing his blackheads from her POV. Hee.

I'm glad you liked it! And if you want to know what happens to them in my head (I honestly don't have it in me to write it out in a proper story) see above, my commet to parlophone. The definitive, cliff notes sequel!

I've been lurking for a while... but finally, I've come to say...

That is story is great! The characters are so real and honestly written. They were like actual people (as opposed to fairy tale folk.)

Amazing storytelling. 8D

Oh, poor Wilbur...good luck being born into that family. I'm so glad you finished this. I love your characters, they felt real and the affection I have for them, and your excellent writing, kept me reading even when I wanted to smack them up side the head and say 'grow up'--which, completely unfair since they're kids, and that's what they were trying to do. (just apparently I, as a grumpy old person have no patience for it).

Kids are annoying! I was in a cinema chock-full of kids! Let me reiterate, kids are annoying!

Although when they get older, it's more a personality trait than a standard behaviour.

Thank you! :D

Oh! I am so happy with the kiss scene! I love your characters, I love the big chaotic family. It makes me so happy to read so much dysfunction!

I am sad it is all over. I love your cast of characters so much, they are just brimming with stories. I feel like there is so much more to tell, so many little scenes. Would you do one shots in this universe? Ever? If not, I will just have to re-read it several times. I'd almost want to fan-fic it myself, but I can't write other people's characters.

Ah. I love Scorpius, and I love Albus. I love how you took that little foot-note of a terrible epilogue and ran with it, creating a universe and characters that will be hard to forget. It makes me so happy!

It's funny, you and Mistful are the only two fan-fic writers I keep up with (as well as I can) these days. I lurk, but I love. Harry Potter fanfiction has more or less become the nostalgic past for me, but I can't resist anything the two of you write. I think it's because your stories go beyond the Harry Potter world, it's just good, engaging writing.

Thank you for writing this! It was a blast to read.

Thank you so much! Everything you said was so sweet. It's nice to hear that I'm one of Those Writers that some people come back to - it's well cool. :D

Finishing this story mentally exhausted me. I've never taken this long with anything! I never say never when it comes to writing, but I think there's a strong possibility that there won't be anything more from this universe. At least from me. But plenty of people write Epilogue, so you're not cast completely adrift.

Oh, this was great fun to read! I love what a rich world you create, peopled with all sorts of fascinating and believable characters. So many fics seem to focus only on the main romantic pairing, which is fine, but it's nice to see a fic that's more of an ensemble piece.

Loved the Rose and Hugo surprises in this chapter, and the Al/Scorpius kiss. I've told you this before, I think -- I love imperfect kisses (and sex scenes too, though that doesn't apply here) and you write them wonderfully!
every Starbucks should have a polar bear: Art: deerscoradh on July 13th, 2008 07:27 pm (UTC)
Thank you! In the end I find that there are endless fields to treat when it comes to any human interaction, not just the romantic sort. Add to that my poor hand at porn, and you get ... this.

Glad you enjoyed it all this time. ♥

So this was amazing. Like, the entire thing. I'm sad because it's over now :(.

But wow. What an ending! I'm curious - what made Rose decide not to have an abortion? She didn't really seem like she wanted a child, and she's kind of young. And she doesn't really seem to give a shit about being a mother.

Scorpius is such an enigma! I would love a bonus chapter from his POV. Really, all of your characters are so well-developed and intriguing, I want to know more about them! I loved Luna and Rolf's wedding :D. And Scorp's mom and baby sister that rhymes all the time!

Such a wonderful, wonderful story.

As Albus pointed out, there are a lot of options when it comes to unwanted pregnancy. In the end, she just chose another one. And Hugo will probably be the primary carer, with other help.

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it so much, although I have total mental fatigue on any future storylines from it.

Oh, this was such a perfect ending. I loved the going backwards and forwards in the narrative, and how humane Rose and Hugo became, when their parents don't seem to have changed at all and are disapproving.

And the holding hands! And the fact that Scorpius wasn't a good kisser! Oh Albus, your head is such a wonderful place to be.

I loved so many of the little details in this, like how Harry and Lily are the most theatrical and butt heads the most often, how Harry is still obviously attracted to his wife, how Malfoy and his wife are 'criminally-minded.'

Thank you so much for writing this!

I couldn't leave them without at least a slice of hope. Change is always possible! Also redemption.

Harry IS awfully theatrical. *waves at his CAPSLOCK incarnation*

One of my New Year's resolutions, which I never usually make, is to try and catch up on bookmarked fics and to offer feedback in a timely manner. Go me, and you are my first lucky writer.

I reread The Road Less Travelled yesterday and read this sequel today at work because they usually send us home early for the holiday but no one bothered this year. So I sat and immersed myself in this story and wasn't even bitter, much, that I was practically alone and forgotten in the building. Instead, I was in another place entirely.

I know you've said that when people praise your writing, you don't believe them. It's made me a bit hesitant to go all gushy and stuff, but then I decided that perhaps someday you'll change your mind and come back to your comments. At any rate, I just need to tell you how much your writing moved and pleases me, in the past and especially today.

These two stories, I think, have demonstrated just how powerful a writer you are. One of the things that you are able to capture so well is voice -you allow us to inhabit your Albus' brain, not just part of the time but consistently. There's never a false note. And Albus is just such an engaging character here - not perfect, because he has his dark side too. I think you've managed to portray each of your characters with a lot of depth. Scorpius has a ton of faults, yet we can overlook them and hope that he finally connects with Albus by the end. Rambo and the twins are terrific OCs (and I've always loved yours, BTW). Even your Harry and Draco are so believable from canon.

Then there's the plot and story you've come up with - perfect! I really love how the culmination of most of your emotional scenes are simple yet moving - and that kiss! You've really shown that not every HP story has to have all the fluids and physicality to be effective and heart-wrenching.

One more thing that never fails to grab me in each one of your stories is how creative you are with detail. You manage to fold in so many of them, each one adding to the richness of the tale. I'd be listing them forever if I even tried to point out how many times I gave an inner squee as I was reading.

Last but not by any means least is your intelligent wit that just brings each character to life and makes the dialogue, especially, sparkle - and more importantly ring so true to life.

And now you are writing in bandom (and I'm barely writing at all). Even more alarming, you are going to be focusing on medicine more and more. Still, we have a well-loved author on our f-list who's an MD herself, and it doesn't seem to slow her down, so I have great hopes that you will find time and energy to continue writing as well.

Thank you so much for the pleasure you've given me.
every Starbucks should have a polar bear: Art: maskscoradh on January 1st, 2009 02:57 am (UTC)
Oh, sweetheart. I am so truly moved by all you've said here. As expected, I still can't really 'own' it, as my therapist would say. I mean, I can see how the Road especially just gelled, but it honestly seemed to do that all by itself. It poured out of me in a matter of days. Don't get me wrong - I'm delighted to hear all these things - I just can't feel totally responsible for them. They belong to the writing fairy who timeshares in my brain.

I am writing in bandom now, and let me tell you it's not the most rewarding experience. I love reading there, having grown utterly fagged with HP stories, but I don't know if I should try concentrate solely on original stuff or not. The thing is, I don't even want to write original slash, which is the only thing I'd post here. (No one would read anything else, for one thing.) But one thing's for sure: if I didn't find time for writing, in some form, I'd die. Not physically, but in ways that meant I might as well have. I'd give up a social life first, and easily.

This is totally gorgeous. Love it, love it, love it. Also: Hugo is a complete bastard. And Scorpius is maybe not quite as much of a jerk as he seemed there for a while. Long live Redding of the cleavage and the blue bra! (and, on a related topic, go Neville!)
