tis the season
There are a lot of Christmassy fics suddenly sprouting up, which cheers me greatly. And I think I'm safe in saying they are Christmas fics, in that they revolve around trees and Santa and mistletoe and ... actually, they're all pagan, but hey, Christianity subsumed them - it's really good at doing that.

My family's Christmas traditions consist of going into the city on Christmas Eve, because we are die-hard consumerists, yes! (What recession? is our favourite phrase.) We've done it every year since we moved to Ireland; it is only on looking back that I realise it's probably because my parents had in no way finished their Christmas shopping by then. How our childhood illusions can be shattered. I'm super-organised, by the way; it's something folk I hardly know comment on, but I had all my gifts bought by the second week in December. I don't understand how people get frazzled or behind in this, but then they probably don't understand ME, so it's all good.

But! Fic! Dressing Gown Blues by oddishly was the first fic up at bandom_solstice, the equal-opportunities bandom fest. (Oh man, what I could say about fests in this fandom would not be even slightly in the Christmas Spirit, whatever that is - the Holy Spirit's illegitimate cousin, maybe? - so I'll cork it.) Hands up, I did beta it. Beta'ing is such a privilege when you can see how your help actually brings a fic from something to something more. This fic is simply delightful. Helen found her bandom voice so quickly, I'm actually jealous. Mine is godawful - I think I spent too much time killing people in HP. (CHARACTERS, I mean.) Go read it! Preferably with hot chocolate by a tree and roaring fire - tip: don't put the tree on the fire. This would be a waste of tree.

Happy Hogswatch, people. I love you all, but murklins, jehnt, Helen and frantic_mice are very precious to me right now. I’d probably force-feed you Roses if you were here, I’m just saying. Isn’t it lucky for me awesome people exist and I know them? (I don't know how lucky it is for them, mind you.)

Goodnight, flist.

I'm one of these crazy people who prefers to get things done five weeks before the deadline. I don't know why this is. It's deeply stressful, anyway!

And to you! :D

HAPPY XMAS!!

I wish you a WONDERFULTASTIC new year full of half-nekid musically-talented boys with dubious reps and able hips. *winks*

I'm seriously considering reading BANDOM ficage. There are too many fab writers in it. Doesn't matter I dunno nofing about it. Just 'cause I dunno the canon doesn't mean I can't knoe the fanfics. ;DDDD

DUDE! I knew nothing, nothing, nothing about bandom when I started reading it - I thought all the boys were in the SAME band. It didn't take from my enjoyment at all. That's the best thing about it: it's slash at its most basic and wish-fulfilling.

And you want to talk about able hips ... OH LORD, SPENCER SMITH.

(If you need a nudge, I'd start here: passe_simple and shacklesnchains. Just sayin'. :P)

And thank you!!

Christmas fics are fun to read. :>

I am a horrible procrastinator, so doing Christmas shopping at the last minute is something I am well-acquainted with.

I KNOW. It's like having a dress made of candyfloss.

Tsk, tsk. Though to be honest it doesn't matter when you do it, as long as it gets done.

i'm looking forward to reading that for sure.

we are never organised, and the only reason i get frazzled is that i suddenly decide to give a shit about things that i was happy to let go the week before.

i don't expect other people to understand since i barely do myself.

hope you have a wonderful day.

It is so worth the wait. :D

Oh man, I hate that feeling! I hope you had a great day, too, in all the lovely sunshine. *pouts*

DON'T MAKE ME CRY, DUDE, THAT'S NOT FAIR.

If you were like, in a band, I'd say something like I LOVE YOUR STUPID FACE, but you're not (or you've been keeping it super-quiet; are you?) so I LOVE YOU LIKE CHRISTMAS will have to do. ♥ (Stupendously lucky, I think is the word you were looking for!)

No really, LIKE CHRISTMAS.

Merry Christmas, Rach. :)

I would so be in a band, were it not for my frightful lack of musical talent and slightly crippling stage-fright. :D

I hope you had a good one too, sweetie (and that flu germs can't be transmitted via the internet, god). ♥!
