Hah! You thought you could get rid of me that easily?

I was going to post a long rant about my craposio Christmas. But actually, I won't. Because it was craposio and that is the end of things. One point, thought - as the Guinness ad put it - 'Even in the home of the black stuff, we dream of a white one' and GOT IT! A white Christmas! My brother raved into my room at eight (EIGHT, PEOPLE) in the morning to scream in my ear to look out the window - at the snow - before running off to do insane-person things, as usual.

I don't even know why I'm rhapsodising about this - I hate snow. But I hate my extended family more, so, like, yeah.

This conversation, while not Christmassy, was disturbing.

My brother was asking my parents if he could pierce his ears, as eleven-year-old boys do all the time, of course. My mother did the usual 'Not till you're eighteen routine', then, presumably to spice things up, she added, 'Yes, and I promise that if you pierce the head of your penis first you can get your ears done'.

That was not the most disturbing thing, amazingly enough. The most disturbing thing was the comment my father passed directly afterwards, which was a question as to why the same rule didn't apply to ME.

I really, really thought that should have been obvious.

So really, the bestest thing that happened this Yuletide was going to see ASoUE (which I keep calling A Sue, to reinforce people's opinion of me as criminally insane and also to ensure they don't know what I'm talking about.)

Like coralia13, I have to agree that I hope this director does some of the Harry Potter films.</span>

which I keep calling A Sue
Well I refer to it as 'A Sue-y,' so you're not alone in the madness =P

*is in total agreement about all the stuff you said about ASoUE and HP*
Except the shrunken heads. I hated the shrunken heads with a passion >

Aha! We can start a club for the criminally insane!!

Yes, after the interviews I was quite pissed off with them too. Hello? This is not a kid's film, people!!

(...well, not REALLY.)

I also agree with scoradh on everything but the shrunken heads. What the hell were they??? I mean, the third movie was amazing, but still, certain parts made me want to cry, and the shrunken heads were on the list. I'm all about the Knight Bus, but I didn't need to see it for twenty minutes, with a mini-Jar Jar Binks swinging from the rearview mirror and chattering at me. It began to remind me of the horrific highway chase scene in the Matrix: Reloaded, which almost put me to sleep. Irriated sleep.

No, what irritated ME was that they couldn't add in one measly line.

HARRY: How did you know about the map? Did you know Moony etc?

LUPIN; We were...accquainted.

In my opinion, the only good thing about the PoA interviews was the one with David Thewlis and Gary Oldman. And I liked their interaction with each other more than their interactions with the interviewer.

I know...I had to stop watching the 'heroes' one because Radcliffe was getting on my last nerve. What was it with him jumping in to answer every question? Mind you, Tom Felton was as bad. I thought the Dursleys were cool, although I never realised how old Mr Dursley was.

I like David Thewlis. But I do think it's a shame that a man so pretty has such a hideous-sounding voice. Does he gargle with rocks?

(The interviewer was a twat, anyway.)

Personally, I hate snow. But I suppose it's all in the spirit of HOLIDAY WHOOO, which is why I'm aching for some. xD OMG IT'S INFECTIOUS!

I like snow. Like, on TV. In reality, it's wet and yucky and means the weather is BLOODY FREEZING.

Yes, my parents worry me just as much as I apparently worry them. Good to know, good to know...xD

. . . yep! They look very nice on postcards too. It is a conspiracy.

It's nice to know there are other teenagers out there who like Series of Unfortunate Events ... here I was feeling all sheepish about liking a movie intended for kids.

"Canon rape"...I love it.
every Starbucks should have a polar bearscoradh on December 28th, 2004 11:38 am (UTC)
Oh, my dear, you are NOT ALONE! Of my flist alone, cynicalpirate, coralia13 and chowburger spring to mind as ASoUE-fanatics. And they are about my (our?) age, 18. So forget the sheep! Say it loud and say it proud: Sunny rocks!

Hah. Common fandom term. Something Steve Kloves commits on a regular basis, also...

Liz_eliza_b on December 28th, 2004 11:58 am (UTC)
We're the same age, then...

Kloves is the scriptwriter for the HP movies, I'm guessing...I love the irony in Rowling's books, too, but it might not be the sort of thing modern audiences respond to. Unfortunately.

bat crime: I keep secrets.iceetoile on December 28th, 2004 02:08 pm (UTC)
dude. I am late with the posting of the comment. However.

I loffed ASoUE with every fibre! the coolness of the snakes! the total ebil self-obsession of Olaf! the cuteness and biteyness of Sunny! Also, yes, Klaus was cool. And I liked Violet's costume, so that was fun. But I have NOT watched the PoA interviews because NOBODY will buy me the DVD. I am so put out. Now I want to watch them, and laugh at all the screwy actors! I never really liked Dan Radcliffe, he has good taste in music but he gets on my wick, and Tom Felton is too non-Draco (yep, definetely not posh enough, although he is pretty posh in the actual films) for me to not be irritated.

Actually, come to think of it, I have issues with most of the cast of the Hp films. But on your LJ is no place to rant about it. Although, shrunken head? no. just no.

I'm going now, because I swear _eliza_b's icon keeps moving and it's really freaking me out. gaaah. also, you got snow. and I didn't. I live in freaking Scotland, come on! What do I have to do to get a sniff of a white Christmas? Go and live up in bloody John O'Groats? no fair. *sticks tongue out*
every Starbucks should have a polar bearscoradh on December 28th, 2004 05:29 pm (UTC)
Yes yes yes! Up with the A suey love!!

I would seriously buy the DVD. Or even just the half with the interview on. Then you can join mine and coralia13's rant (see above). Because if there's any place to rant about the cast (or mainly the pretty) IT IS HERE, BABE.

I thought Dan was cool because he read Pterry. There again, I could nearly be his mother. Nearly. And Tom is ever so slightly prettier. Although again with the mother thing.

The shrunken head is getting on MY wick after watching the interviews.

Heh! My parents are threatening to drag me up the Galtees New Year's Day to look at what snow is left, so I don't feel so happy now. Not that I like snow much anyway. :|
bat crime: Col. Mustard with the daggericeetoile on December 29th, 2004 01:14 pm (UTC)
ohmigod! your rant has grown to vast ranty psychopathic proportions since the last time I was here! It is the rant of rants! It deserves exclamation marks, it's so kinda scary and funny and slightly angry!

gch. ... . . calmer now. yum yum, full stops. But snow! You must like it, it's all white and snowy and just really cool. Do you not think? Although won't you be feeling just marginally hungover on NYD? but snow is good for hangovers, I would imagine.

Really, Dan reads Pterry? (hee hee, I never get to use the fandom name, it's exciting) I just thought he was pretty looking, and harryish looking, just not actually all that great as a Harry when he starts moving and saying things. If he just stood still and didn't do anything, he'd be fine. Although, dude, his mother? You're like what, 18, unless I'm wrong, and he must be um 13ish? So no! Just wrong.

I think I'll get my littlest brother to pester the primordial forebears to get it for him on his birthday on the 6th of Jan. Then we're all winners! I get to shout at the interviews, and Ben gets a DVD. Then maybe there will be ranting. and also, now you too can get irritated by the shrunken head *waves fist* It is canon rape, and not even good canon rape.

Yay, asue (not A suey, I think, because it has too many syllablelbles.
