one fine day
softlyforgotten may be pleased to hear I just bought the White Album on iTunes. I was only there to show my support for the Rubberbandits' campaign for number one and ended up two albums and several highly priced singles poorer. C'EST LA VIE AVEC UN VISA. Man, I HATEHATEHATE the X-Factor. The stupid FINAL was on and I had to hear all about someone called MATT stealing someone called REBECCA'S thunder and despite my earnest efforts, the stupid thing was playing while I was in the res (on call last night - I don't watch TV at home) and I now know far more about this ridiculous megamarketing dressed up as music than I ever wanted to. And don't get me started on Gerry Ryan. Why can't anyone ever talk about, like, Greek mythology or something INTERESTING? I started telling someone about Cassandra (and Clytemnestra and Agamemnon) t'other day and I saw their GCS dropping before my eyes.

This is still one of my favourite ever skits:

Gah, I have been on call four times in a fortnight; my body now thinks three am is lunchtime and that my blood is made of Diet Coke. I FEEL WEIRD, IN OTHER WORDS.

I was about to be all sputtering outrage, and then I remembered YOU LIVE IN CORK, TOO. *keels over* (I get a lot of Cork-related teasing at work.)

(Randomly, last week I had a customer ask me where from Canada I was and a taxi driver remark I had no Cork accent. Sigh.)

Also randomly, I've served Tommy Tiernan a bunch of times in the shop. Unfortunately, I never realise it's him until after he's left...

It's so true, though! Patients always ask me where I'm from and when they hear Tipp they are not impressed, although I'm no more from there than Canada - which, incidentally, is where my registrar thought I was from. I identify most strongly with Cork as I feel I did my growing-up there, I love the city, and I love how easy it is to mock. :P

His early stuff is great! I was just rewatching Cracked ... "AYYY DON'T LAYKE JOHN!"

Of course not! Too much sugar - it's straight Coke.

aaah sleeplessness. my sister's a paramedic and has the same kind of messed up sleep schedules. i really admire people who can still function like that, especially doing something that's so demanding anyway. you deserve many pats on the back!

I am proud of you! UGH THE BEATLES. Best band ♥

Also, sorry to hear you are so overworked, argh. Do you get any sort of holidays around Christmas? Even if your holiday is just catching up on a sleep debt? <333
