I am just going outside. I may be some time.
Actually, I have to find my bloody GLASSES CASE. Dude. It has the special little cleaning cloth in and all...

And when I come back I will answer faithfully all those emails I love so much.

Before I go...imadra_blue: of course I'm not mad at you! You will be getting more stuff to beta before the next week is out! That is how not-mad I am...and how lucky you are. Not. Ahaha.

cynicalpirate. You know this already, but I am a tit.

This message was brought to you by the insaner parts of Rachel's brain and will be deleted on her return. So don't bother commenting.

I love you all but I am also severely unbalanced right now. I need to, like, bond? With...me? And some serious chocolate therapy. Slan leat.

This might be a stupid question, but... is everything okay? Did I miss trauma? I hate not being there when friends have trauma!

Shh, you're making me feel like I've a head injury! xD

There was just some shit going down with my old mates. Remind me to tell you about it sometime when I can laugh about it. <3

I'm not mad with anyone but myself (the usual) and some choice RL people.

Those ponies always make me think of R/S. (Everything is corrupted...) <333

Poor soul, you must have been up half the night answering all your messages... So wonderful to see you back. ♥ Please, please try not to give yourself too hard a time. Easy to say, I know. I just hope everything's sorting itself out now.

*Huge, great hugs*

Ashully, been staying up late watching TV and last night I couldn't sleep so I was there at four going 'HELL, I SHALL INSPECT MY INBOX! AND YEA, FOR IT WAS REALLY REALLY FULL!'

Yes, it is. Yet again I have been taught the hard way that one should never trust people. C'est tout.

You're great. *loves*
Minnowminnow_53 on March 28th, 2005 10:12 am (UTC)
I've just written a very disjointed reply to your wonderful review.

I did think a lot of shit had been happening.

Yet again I have been taught the hard way that one should never trust people. C'est tout.

C'est assez! The only single comforting thing I can say is that all anguish is wonderful for your writing. Not that it makes the anguish any better, or salvages your life, or anything else. But if the life is shit, the art shines golden.

The life and art can both be golden, of course, or so I gather. I really hope that will happen to you. At the moment, you probably don't feel that it will, though. So I am really, really sad that you seem to be having not a great time. I do hope that at least you had chocolate comfort at Easter, which may make us all feel even worse on the scales the next day, but hey, who cares?

Sorry. I'm pretty useless. I mean, I can only infer what's going on, so I may be way off. Just, if you're sad, hope you'll soon be happy again. Hope you're writing. Hope that H/D are glimmering there, just a bit... And there's always R/S. Practically canon, they are.

Better stop. But lots of cyber love winging its way to you.

^_^xx

Yeah - and I left you a huge reply too. Eep.

I know EXACTLY what you mean. And it is a great comfort; and even when things are going well (which, let's be fair, they usually are) I never resent the shit because yes, it's all fodder for later writing. You really know you're a writer when *fill in bad stuff* happens and you think 'Oh, so this is what it feels like'. I read that on the Nanowrimo site. I think it's very true.

And I am too naive in many ways, for all that I know way too much about prostrates. *rolls eyes* And you're not useless, not at all. You're one of the most supportive people I know, even counting real life. That's pretty blurry amazing, darling. *blows kisses*

I'm always losing my bloody glasses case. And my glasses. These are the days you see me chewing a pen in class all day because I can't see anything.

Did you know you've been recced by painless_j? Well... you have :)
every Starbucks should have a polar bearscoradh on March 27th, 2005 06:21 pm (UTC)
I don't lose my glasses, 'cause I wear them all the time. Everything else just goes walkabout...

So I did. Well, I never. That's cheering!

Hi! This isn't really in response to your post at all; I just wanted to say hello! :) And thank you, as well, for the nice review you left on skyehawke! :) I absolutely love what I've read of your fics so far, which is why I just friended you (yesterday, I believe?), and I'm looking forward to having time to read the rest. I think I reviewed Snakes and Ladders on FA (I never go there; it was a link from someone's rec list and consequently made one of my rec lists - see my memories!) - but as I'm never there, I never checked to see if it actually got posted, or whatever. But I loved it. And then I also read Open Season the other day, which I meant to review and forgot. Totally different, and also quite wonderful! So, anyway, thank you again! :) It always makes my day when an author I admire comments on my stuff! :)
every Starbucks should have a polar bearscoradh on March 27th, 2005 06:33 pm (UTC)
No need to review my stuff, never a prerequisite! (I hate being guilt-tripped, so I'd never do it.)

I finished your story (bit of a marathon read!). It was really good, an interesting take on the relationship what with Boot Camp and all! And I liked Krum and Blaise, interestingly enough. I would be more effusive but then, I'm pretty much a crap reviewer.

(BTW, shall I friend back?)
SilentAurorsilentauror on March 27th, 2005 07:20 pm (UTC)
Oh, please friend back! :) And no need to review on your part, either! It totally makes my day (evening?) that you read it at all! Thanks! I confess to having a small, private weakness for Draco/Blaise, too. I'd just been reading a bunch of fics that had elements of it, and Blaise was always really hot. So, just to be a bit different, I thought I'd make him hot and annoying, and perhaps just a tad dangerous. :)

I'm pretty sure I'm a crap reviewer, too, but hey. I really liked your stag party/Ibiza fic, whose name I (obviously) can't remember at the moment. :) Sob Story's next on my list of to-read's.

As for my fic, it's nowhere near over yet, no idea how long it will go.
I finished your story (bit of a marathon read! - *nervous laugh* Uh, have you seen my fic, Finding Love? That was intended, roughly, to be in the neighbourhood of about 12 chapters (my chapters are usually around 4,000-5,500 words per), and ended up being 36. It's my magnum opus thus far, at least until On the Wings gets finished. :)

Off to read. :)
every Starbucks should have a polar bearscoradh on March 28th, 2005 08:59 am (UTC)
In every B/D fic I've read, Blaise is presented as - if not dangerous, then at least wild. You know, hot-blooded, hot-headed Italians and all that. It's a cool ship, although I never really got into it because my faith was given to H/D. Although that, too, is weakening now. *facepalm* I'm such a vacillating idiot...

Is Finding Love on SH? I confess I didn't spot it. I promise to check it out, but it may be a while before I have time!
SilentAurorsilentauror on March 28th, 2005 09:36 am (UTC)
Hi! :) Finding Love is on skyehawke, and the quickest route to it is probably the popular stories page, where I believe it's still at #8. It's super-duper long (despite SH's faulty word count, it's just over 170,000 words or thereabouts), so no pressure to read it a) all at once, b) soon, or c) at all. :) I would be very, very happy, of course, if you did, but seriously, don't worry about it if you don't have time or just don't want to.

Where in Ireland are you from? I'm half-Irish (I live in Canada) and finally had a chance to see the part of Ireland where all my relatives are from last May. They're Kelly's, all from Galway and around there. I mostly saw the west coast, a bit of the north (of the Republic), Dublin, and then just a short jaunt into Northern Ireland.

I love Blaise, in general, because he is genuinely, one hundred percent fanon, due to JK having neglected to actually give him a personality in canon. :) I also like the Italian/wild thing, too. If your faith in H/D is weakening, what is it turning to? :)
every Starbucks should have a polar bearscoradh on March 28th, 2005 11:37 am (UTC)
Cool! You got the popular page, nice one. I didn't realise SH does faulty word counts; that's odd. I will read it; it just will be intermittently, and I shall leave you a big review at the end; will that suffice? xD

I live in Tipperary at the mo, but my family is what my mate Siobhan calls 'posh knackers'...ah, that is, we move about a LOT. I'll probably be going to uni in Dublin in autumn - Trinity College, you may have even seen it! It's a bit of a tourist haunt. Kelly is one of the big names here - I knew about three different families of them at school. *grins*

That's true; but everyone seems to capitalise on the Italianiate bit (with due basis, of course, given the name). Not sure, really; lesser known characters, with maybe a bit of Harry/Zacharias (that would be spectacular's fault! Oh, I suppose I just feel there's very little I can contribute to H/D, which puts me off rather. xD
SilentAurorsilentauror on March 28th, 2005 03:41 pm (UTC)
Well, the thing with H/D is, if you really love it (just like with H/SS), it never really gets old. Unless it's boringly written. :) And I would assume that a writer of your callibre would never bore me, anyway, so don't give up hope!

Yeah, skyehawke's word counts are way lower than Word's or the Silver Snitch's, which I began to archive on merely for the word counter. With some fics, the difference is neglible; with others, it's huge. Finding Love, for instance, has 169,314 words, according to TSS, whereas on SH, it only has, apparently 161,603 words. I can't tell you what Word says because the fic is on three damned discs all by itself, but in my experience, TSS is closer to Word. Whatever that means! The word count is new on SH, as of last week, so it might have bugs; their newer features tend to. Oh, and correction on the standings; it appeared that someone updated or something, and FL is now #9. Still. :) Leave as many or as few reviews as you like!

I did see Trinity College, and it's beautiful! I went to see the Book of Kells, naturally - another complete and utter tourist trap, but lovely all the same, especially the room with the library in it. Have you been to Dublin before? If not, then I recommend it highly! :) The college is right beside a really nice area called Temple Bar, which has a lot of pubs and restaurants. What are you going into in uni? I'm an opera performance major, which is my third degree, and I'm hopefully graduating this spring (if I pass bloody music theory IV!).

Why does your family move around so much? I meant to tell you before, and this is completely unrelated, that I also hate Harry/Hermione with quite an immense amount of passion. Terrible. Simply terrible! I will not read it, ever. :)

The only thing I ever wrote involving Zacharias Smith was a little humour/non-con (if you can buy that!) fic with him and the Weasley twins in the Room of Requirement, called Zacharias Smith Learns a Lesson. It was, sadly, deleted forever when the bastards mods at ff.net annihilated my account (sans warning!!!) last September. I had just started writing; it was my fourth fic or something, when it happened, and I hadn't been clever enough to save it to disc. Just as well, really - it squicked me out, never mind anyone else! Twincest and non-con! Sometimes I disturb even myself. :)
every Starbucks should have a polar bearscoradh on March 29th, 2005 12:51 pm (UTC)
Okay, I don't even know how many words my stuff has; I count by pages in Word, tis easier!

I used to live in Meath, so I know Dublin slightly. Blanchardstown (biggest shopping complex in the country) is the best place for shopping; I mainly stuck to Henry St and Mary St in Dublin, as O'Connell St is basically dead. Temple Bar's famous for stag and hen nights! I don't know where the students go, but I guess I'll find out. I don't know what I'm doing yet, I'm putting in a late app in May. xD Good luck with your degree - third, wow!!

We move a lot because my parents are easily bored, and they follow the jobs! Oh, I detest H/Hr! So do a lot of people on here, you're not alone.

Scarily enough, I can see that pairing - or threesome. Wouldn't write it, I don't think, but I CAN see it. Heard a lot of people got chucked out of the Pit, all right. Why don't you try therestrictedsection.org instead?

SilentAurorsilentauror on March 29th, 2005 01:00 pm (UTC)
Well, it's far too late for that fic in particular. I was just a newbie, quite green, and thought that if something was online, I didn't need to save it anywhere else. *winces* I know, I know. And I wouldn't even have called it so much of a threesome as a seriously non-con (as in, probably should be re-termed rape) fic. Probably best that it's gone!

I based it on the exchange the twins have with Smith in the Hog's Head in OotP, something about a long, wickedly-looking instrument which one twin volunteers to stick in his ears or something, and the other twin says something like, "or elsewhere, we're not fussy about where we stick it" or something. And this terrible, fanged plot bunny hopped into my mind. Re-reading canon after I'd started reading slash was just far too much fun!

Counting pages is definitely easier. :)
every Starbucks should have a polar bearscoradh on March 29th, 2005 01:25 pm (UTC)
That's a line oft quoted in terms of proving the slashy subtext, as regards the twins and the series in general. *winks* I think it's a brilliant one, up there with Ron and 'Can I see Uranus too, Lavender?'

Ah, the Weasleys. They crack me up. The Phelps are FINE, too.
SilentAurorsilentauror on March 29th, 2005 01:48 pm (UTC)
Mmm, yes. :) Definitely fine. I haven't read much twinslash in a long time, I should really get back into it. Or better yet, write some of my own, hmm... :)
