Well, what would you do if the oranges rose up and demanded their freedom?

You know what's really freaky?

Your parents having pasts.

Like, my father. Owning a Sirius Black-esque --my own interpretation!-- motorcycle. Hippie hair and smoking pot.

If you saw my father, you'd just think he was a random old dude.

Not someone who once lived on a beach for two weeks because he ran out of money to pay for his rent.

Oho, Meg and Liz are a veritable gold and opal mine, ruby river and oyster-shell of information. Ahahaha.

I am so over Harry/Draco, incidentally. I've read nearly every H/D there is to read and, to be honest lads, people do write a dynamic that is far more Harry/Zacharias than Harry/that blonde evil git whose father's a Death Eater. For serious, here. There's from whence the confusion sprung. Everyone realised that's what they were doing and slammed the Zarryiers for perpetrating what the Drarryiers were, in fact, perpetrating.

God lord, what it'd be like to make sense.

Perpetrating is such a fun word.

Hi! Glad you've had a good week, and come out not only unscathed but happy. ♥

Um...you may be right about H/D, but should such a talented H/D writer really be repuditating her former OTP so completely?

Btw, I did mean to ask you about Sumo!Bunny. I'll give you some lovely ponies to keep him company.

Sorry, I meant 'repudiating': an extra t got in there somehow. I can't type at night.

I've never been a fan of H/D shipping. Heh. More power to ya hun. :D

It is really freaky. The mind boggles at the weird thing parents got up to in their youth. But what is freakier is when you find a (hopefully) twenty-year-old badge in a drawer that says, 'Sex Doesn't Have Any Calories.' Ew ew ew.

I've never been able to find any enthusiasm for H/D... It just kinda bores me. I think it's my complete lack of interest in the characters involved, and the obviousness of the pairing says the Remus/Sirius shipper. The whole hate=love thing holds no great wonder for me.

*is thoughful* One of the best forms of exercise, I hear. When my friend and I were discussing doctors and the high rates of smoking amongst them, to combat stress, we were thinking they really should find other avenues... and then we got on to dentist's chairs and the conversation just went downhill from there...

Mmm, well, the one thing I don't like about R/S is the lack of love hate! And my allegiance would go to J/S only there isn't enough of it. I like love-hate, but not ebilness, hence the new Zarry. :)
sputz_n_micah on June 4th, 2005 01:05 pm (UTC)
You shall not take my love of the H/D! No, I totally know what you mean. I just don't let it stop me. Heh.

My mum twotimed this random guy and my dad, and got two proposals in a week. She rode a motorbike. My dad had long hair and did scary things. Ack!
every Starbucks should have a polar bearscoradh on June 4th, 2005 01:15 pm (UTC)
Oh, I'd still read it. Just not write it. Or 'ship' it, technically. :) Trust me, there isn't enough Zarry out there for that.

O.O My dad once said 'Infidelity is inevitable'. *is worried*
Caitcoralia13 on June 4th, 2005 01:54 pm (UTC)
I totally know what you mean. My mom once hitch-hiked across the country, and met up with this random guy who took her most of the way. And by "took her most of the way"... I don't actually know what, if anything happened between them. I don't want to know. Also, both my parents were married to other people before they married each other. I cannot picture that, but I would kind of like to see it, just to know them better.
And my mom also owned a motorcycle. For serious.

Interesting, interesting... I know that we have discussed the fact that canon Draco is not fanon Draco. Interesting to ponder whether fanon Draco is in fact, canon Zacharias. Hmm... I am awaiting your story to fully convince me. :)

every Starbucks should have a polar bearscoradh on June 5th, 2005 04:23 am (UTC)
*jaw hits floor* I mean, look at this! Our parents were wildchildren! And I know, for me anyway, that I'm... well, NOT. It's pathetic.

Odd question, but have you met their former SOs? That would be... really odd. Odd, odd, odd. O.O

Z is turning out pretty hateful. I have so much more to play with, you see, than the DE father which Draco HAS to reject to get with Harry. Z can be plain old horrible like a normal human being. Ahaha.

Have even prettier one for when I post Chapter two! Ummm.

Insufferable, man.: difficultcynicalpirate on June 4th, 2005 02:46 pm (UTC)
I think Terry/Michael is better than Zach (yes, Zach)/Harry. Because all ships which are minus Harry are a cut above the rest.

Harry/Draco and Harry/Ron being possible exceptions, when written well.

Boykissing icon! *swoons*

So... you are the lovechild of Sirius Black and - who?
every Starbucks should have a polar bearscoradh on June 5th, 2005 04:25 am (UTC)

You don't like Harry, eh? Still, rareships are spat upon by the big-uns, that's the main drawback. :)

I've sailed H/D for a year and a half. I need some shore time.

corporal_katz on June 4th, 2005 04:33 pm (UTC)
Ahaha! I have a photo of my dad when he was my age (so, so, long ago! :D) sitting on his motorbike, smoking a cigg. Complete with flare jeans and all. Except his hair was quite curly and afro-like back then. I'll have to dig around for the pic and post it sometime. XD
every Starbucks should have a polar bearscoradh on June 5th, 2005 04:27 am (UTC)
There are far too many of my dad in flares and flowery shirts. And embroidered headbands. My dad's hair was red and curly, so now. 8D

So what, you're not going to write any more H/D? *sobs quietly into a handkerchief* I feel so bereft.

I think it depends on the way people interpret the canon; after all, there's no proof in the canon that Draco is evil, he's just a snarky boy, whose Cunning Plans TM always go wrong and get him, not Harry, into trouble, and he gets slapped by Hermione, whupped in the Train Stomp, hexed by the DA, and beaten by Harry in every Quidditch match. Slytherin can't even win the house cup, Dumbledore's so biased. So I always saw Draco as more of a pathetic figure than an evil one, and really, he's hardly Harry's absolute nemesis, so I think there's room for positive interaction there. They'll have to grow up some time, and maybe grow out of petty 1st year rivalries (what, they hate one another because they didn't shake hands on a train once? Big whoop).

But me, I have to defend my OTP, that's just the way it is. Not that I'm averse to some tasty Zarry, however...
every Starbucks should have a polar bearscoradh on June 5th, 2005 04:31 am (UTC)
Aside from the Big Bang no, not for the foreeable future. Pffle, though, there are LOADS of better H/D writers than I to read.

Yes, I entirely agree with your definition. However, on reading it I find little to psyche me. I mean, Draco a wimp, who just grows out of everything that makes him who he is now? Why bother? I like my bitchy Zacharias. :)
abbey1969 on June 5th, 2005 06:13 am (UTC)
Right... a couple of things - who's Zacharias?

Also - fuck, your dad is cool. The coolest thing my dad ever did when he was young was complain that other young men had apple tarts with their lunch, while he couldn't afford any. Which isn't a cool thing to do at all. Which really just means that all of his uncool has rubbed off on me, making me uncool. And I'm smaller than he is, thus concentrating the uncool, and making me a veritable black hole of cool, sucking the cool from others who accidentally wander within a three foot radius of me.

Additionally - you can't be over H/D. Damn it. Who could take their place? (SBRLSBRLSBRLSBRLSBRLSBRLSBRL)
every Starbucks should have a polar bearscoradh on June 5th, 2005 11:33 am (UTC)
Zacharias Smith. The first we heard of him, he came to the first DA meeting in the Hog's Head. He's blonde, in Hufflepuff and plays Quidditch. :)

My dad was so poor he couldn't afford football boots until he was twenty-odd. Now he has thousands taken off in his taxes each year. *le shrug* Sadly, zilch of my dad's 'cool' has translated to me; I was just thinking about it and how tame I am by comparison!

Terry/Michael, because I'm writing a fic that's eating my brain ... and Harry/Zacharias. And James/Sirius, because I'm EBIL. 8D

Hi -- I might answer to the actual post sometime later, but I just thought I'd point this out since I thought maybe you'd get a kick out of it. ;P

From officialgaiman, here:

... Terry Pratchett and I were talking about Crowley and Aziraphale over dinner the other night and wondering what they'd been up to ("...on the South Downs? You really think so?"). It was very pleasant, honestly, like catching up with news of old friends.

Make of it what you will you naughty thing, you. ;)
every Starbucks should have a polar bearscoradh on June 5th, 2005 11:36 am (UTC)
I could make a hat, or a chrysanthemum.

The South Downs are lovely for a weekend break; you can go there and rent one of those little cottages with wisteria growing around the door. Not really Crowley's scene, except when the SUVs come blaring around the tiny roads, but Aziraphale insisted. And of course, Crowley capitulated, because he knew he'd get no action unless he did.

Reports were later published in the local rag of sightings of two absurdly handsome men, both naked (except one was wearing sunglasses), frolicking about and getting up to 'all sorts of degeneracy'.

You CANNOT tell me you don't see it. You cannot.

Thankfully, my mother does not have a past. Except maybe that she was a complete goody-two shoes from start to finish (unless she goes crazy in old age).
My dad; however, has the past. AND he's a pastor, so it makes it even more freaky. But good came of it. I defend my tattoos because he has one on his upper arm...that he got while in the Navy...drunk. Mine were all done sober and contemplated for at least a year each time.
every Starbucks should have a polar bearscoradh on June 6th, 2005 08:33 am (UTC)
Hahaha! My dad has tattoos as well, on his thumb and forearm. He did them HIMSELF. I'd never just do it like that either and I'm so indecisive it'd take me a decade to decide! 8D
