Have a nice dream about ducks, you hear?

Books chosen to pack: Echoes of the Great Song, Lion Boy, War and Peace, I Capture the Castle, Ghostwritten, Men at Arms, Witches Abroad, Ender's Shadow, The Dark Is Rising, The Blind Assassin, The Moor's Last Sigh, Textbook of Medical Physiology, Clinically Oriented Anatomy.

Room for clothes, toiletries and misc.: None.

So I am flying away, slowly slowly, horses of the night. I have to pack away my computer today otherwise I will forget it tomorrow, or forget some lead or something and be stuck in the wilderness with a dead, affronted-looking laptop and surrounded by people eager to inflict upon me the loathsome evils of "camping". *shudders* So I bid you adieu, for those who care; hopefully I should have coerced someone into sharing the shiny wireless connection with me by the end of the week. However, I'll be pretty much in the air until Friday afternoon, lovely thought that it is. Take care! Pray that I don't get eaten by a crocodile or a snake or a poisonous spider or a lizard or a beetle OMG DO I REALLY WANT TO GO HOME?!

But hopefully by then cynicalpirate will've forgiven me? Maybe? Tell me not that it is a vain hope, dearheart! But not deerheart. That's me. I heart James and his deer's heart. Ohgod.

I know! I read it. And it was good. Will also comment.

Nooo! Not the ducks! :O
Just stay away from the giant radioactive platypi. And, have fun! :)

How long will you be gone?

Re: Nooo! Not the ducks! :O
Hahaha, just down the road from where I used to live is a huge platypus stream that tourists go up by the busload to peeer at!

Well, I've been gone a month. xD
Jaximadra_blue on July 26th, 2005 05:45 am (UTC)
Aww, have fun, darling! *smooches* It can't be as bad as you're making it sound.

It was fine! And I hope you are, with Katrina the bitch! Please say y'are.

♥ Katrina? I think I'm missing something... or perhaps the lack of sleep is driving memory from my poor, weak body.

The ... hurricane. See, I heard it was on the coast of Florida for a while and you live in Florida!! ... So. Er.
Jaximadra_blue on September 3rd, 2005 01:32 am (UTC)
It passed us on the tail end when it was just a baby hurricane, but it all the poor people in New Orleans and whatnot that got hit the hardest. *pets*

I have nothing to add except that I Capture the Castle is a wonderful choice. Have fun on your journey!

... Really? I found Cassandra a very wearying character. Simon was right, her naivete was very concious.

How come you're in the air for that long? You will be OKAY. Do NOT let anyone make you go camping in freaking Australia, for chrissakes! SPIDERS!!! I HAVE SEEN PICTURES!!!! OMGFEAR.
Anyway, ahem, you will be fine. You have loads of stuff to do in your down-time (lots and lots of books!), and music galore, and maybe you should bring a DVD for your laptop on the plane? Although with a flight like that I'm sure you get your own little personal TV screne and movies to choose from - fun!
I'm not sure if you will read this before you leave because I'm not sure when you are leaving, but here are some fun little American-thoughts on Australia (from the beautiful, lovely, hilarious America: The Book) that might cheer you up:
Imagine if American politics were a boomerang, and you threw that boomerang and it came back to you exactly like it was... except now it had a dark, leathery suntan and was wearing corduroy shorts and an oragne Ocean Pacific tank top. This gives you an idea of the surprising similarities between Australia and the United States. Other similarities: language (sort of), wholesale slaughter of indigenous population, and geography. Like America, Australia has two or three important cities on the coasts and a whole lot of nothing in between. What we call "Flyover Country," they call "The Outback."
I hope you find that as funny as I do!
LOVE! Have a good trip!
every Starbucks should have a polar bearscoradh on August 31st, 2005 01:21 pm (UTC)
One hour to London; twelve hours across Russia to Tokyo; seven hours to Cairns. :) Fun! And yes, we did get private screens on the long flight. I have seen many, many films which I never wanted to, including Sahara, The Interpreter, Hide and Seek, the Ring 2, The First Wives Club, The Wedding Date (again!), Hitch, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Fever Pitch (for you guys; released here as the Perfect Catch) and Miss Congeniality 2. Erlack, erlack. I'm very picky about films and wish I'd discovered the Tetris function on same screens well before the last hour of the return flight. Poo.

Your flyover country may prove salvation in terms of windpower, I believe! I think that's what I read in National Geographic. xDD
Caitcoralia13 on August 31st, 2005 02:38 pm (UTC)
Oh, yes - you should see the wind towers! The are an impressive sight. I don't think they do much right now, though. We've got a lot of space to put more.
Well, I bet you were all movied out - especially since you didn't like (any of?) them. Let's see - I have seen: Hitchhiker's Guide, Fever Pitch, and Miss Congeniality 2. I liked Fever Pitch, and HG, but probably because I haven't read the books. I don't know how you watched The Ring 2. I honestly don't.

So does this mean you are back?!?! When do you start school?
every Starbucks should have a polar bearscoradh on September 1st, 2005 06:39 am (UTC)
If you'd read the HG, you'd be very sad on reading that. The only funny parts were the commentary, and really they worked better in written form. Not to mention the gazillion plotholes; for one thing there was meant to be another female character that Arthur falls for and they all died in the end. I haven't read Fever Pitch, but there's a good chance that the British film (with Colin Firth!) was a sight better.

Yes! 26th of September I believe. I'm still waiting for my Fresher's Pack -- coming next week, apparently. *eyeroll*
Caitcoralia13 on September 1st, 2005 06:47 am (UTC)
Wait - there was a whole different movie made? No Boston Red Sox, Drew Barrymore, and Jimmy Fallon for you? How sad! It was very cute - I love Jimmy Fallon.

26th of September?! Wow, you do do it differently across the ocean! Yay for September 1st: my second day of school.
every Starbucks should have a polar bearscoradh on September 1st, 2005 06:53 am (UTC)
Yes ... it was written about soccor! And the reason it was released under a different name here is because when people talk about Red Sox, they mean the ones you put on your feet. xD Isn't he a stand-up comedian? I read that in a review.

Yes, uni students are famed for the brevity of their terms.
Caitcoralia13 on September 1st, 2005 05:14 pm (UTC)
So it is starring Colin Firth? Who is the female lead? How wild! Yes, Jimmy Fallon was/is a comedian, he was a regular on Saturday Night Live for a while (a very popular comedy skit show in America, in case you didn't know), and is also an actor.

Dude, you suck! Ah, well, you will just have to tell me all about it!
Minnow: Hermioneminnow_53 on July 26th, 2005 10:29 am (UTC)
Talking of 'dearheart' and 'deerheart', I've just done a report on a (dreadful) novel, where 'heart' was spelt 'hart'. So, deerhart, anyone?

Is this the most pointless answer EVER? Have a good holiday!

every Starbucks should have a polar bearscoradh on August 31st, 2005 02:09 pm (UTC)
Were they, perhaps, talking about deer? (Please say yes.

Thanks! I did, too. xD
