My life, the three-act play

This evening, I sat down on the sofa to eat one of those ready-made, re-heatable pancakes -- which need to be doused in all manner of sugars and syrups and ice-cream in order to make them in any way platable -- as you do. My father was already in situ, watching Snow Day. (This appears to be one of those Disney films where the budget didn't stretch to a cute lead -- thinking, Devon Sawa in Casper -- and 'cute' is okay -- when you're twelve.)

PADRE: Rachel, you are ... still in your pyjamas.

RACHEL: Your point? Why did I bother heating up this pancake? The ice-cream makes it cold again!

PADRE: *displaying that tenacity that makes him so beloved of sub-contractors everywhere* But you've been wearing pyjamas all day!

RACHEL: *laughing gaily* Of course I do, Dad. I stay in them all weekend when I'm home from college. Did you not notice? For the last six weeks to two months? No?

PADRE: ...

RACHEL: *watches film*

*films shows small child of male sex filling a runner -- his own? -- with ice from the ice-machine on the fridge door*

RACHEL: *laughs for about five minutes*

RACHEL: I shall sooo buy one of those when I'm grown up.

MADRE: What, a shoe filled with ice?

RACHEL: D'oh. My heart pines for one. Christmas list, oh where art thou?

PADRE: *stares and gestures vaguely with fork, in hopes of communicating alarm and despair to wife-type-person*

MADRE: Jesus, has it snowed in this film yet?

Hey, lads, what's with this fad for changing usernames? I quite like mine (Google it and find out why!!) ... although I wouldn't mind changing rainspots. That's a daft name, and I'd say it sounds like I'm trying to emulate </span>lizardspots. (... you know ... with the whole 'spot' thing? ... nevermind.)

spectacular *is kinda lame* but it would hardly be original to use that, would it, darling? So, any suggestions?

And don't say porndog. I mean it.

How's that for a username? (Without the sucky spelling, of course...)

*giggles with girlish glee* I remember Devon Sawa, and even worse, I had a crush on him. XD

My dad gets gripey too when I've been wearing my pyjamas all day. I don't know why. This is the fourth day in a row I've worn this pair of jeans.

I had a crush on him toooo! I don't know how many times I watched Little Giants just coz of him.

I wear the same pair of jeans all week! There's not much point in getting three or four pairs all wet and mucky (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!).

I was a big big Casper fan cos of him and saw that movie with him and JTT in it where they do the cross country documentary thing about animals.

I just washed my bra for the first time in two months a little while ago. It's a comfy bra, forms well, and the smell wasn't too bad after all that time. You'd have to stick your nose into the wire to really smell it.

Okay, TMI, but I'm comfy. ^_^

Shit, I've seen that too! What was it called? It was a terrible, terrible film, anyway, only watched it for teh pretteh. So shallow.

Dude, comfort is king! Imagine if you'd lived two hundred years ago, you'd probably have bathed about once a YEAR.

I can't help you; my username is also my screen name, and other username type things, also. I have no creativity when it comes to these things. Part of the reason I created hufflelit is that I thought of it and it was so clever I couldn't NOT use it.

Anyway, I love the story. I remember the move "Snow Day," although I don't think I ever watched it. It's just about all the hijinks that ensue (supposedly) when kids get the day off school, right? Like, "Ferris Beuler's Day Off" for twelve year olds? Awesome. And, yay, Devon Sawa as Casper! I don't understand why he couldn't be hot like that all the time. Those Disney movies make me into a pedophile.

Indeed! I thought of rainspots because I always get inspired by rain, and there's a buggering lot of that round these here parts. Still, it's pretty boring as usernames go.

Ah, but when we were watching Casper, we were twelve too! (ish) So it wasn't paedophilia, it was perfectly normal tween crushing.

And then we discovered fandom.

And then we were corrupted for life.

Or maybe that's just me.

No, no - not just you. Absolute fandom corrupts absolutely.

I'm going to change my username, and I have a perfectly logical reason for doing so. I just have to wait until I get a paycheck so I can recharge my prepaid credit card.

I do it just to confuse you. ;)

Hello, I just wanted to let you know that I read through your entire deal with the concrit on your slashfest story and thought you handled it very well. While I didn't read the whole story for kind of the same reasons that person was giving you concrit about (which is why I am posting this here on your journal instead of on the fic itself), I applaud you for keeping your head and not getting defensive or (for lack of a better word) bitchy towards said person.

I also think we have a few things in common as far as pretty boys being with other pretty boys, and did I see a mention of Good Charlotte in one of those replies? ;) While I am starting to loathe the H/D pairing simply based on the abundance of it lately, I believe we could have loads to talk about regarding our mutual interests.

I'm friending you, feel free to friend me back or tell me to fuck off or whatever. Anyone who can take a ripping-into like you got for that fic definitely earns my respect, because I know I would probably burst into tears and get all emo. Kutos, really. ♥

*bites tongue in amusement* Possibly the one and only time in my life that I'll be accused of maturity, I reckon! Actually -- as I'm sure you'll agree -- that story deserved the ripping-into that it got; if my poor darling beta hadn't been so stressed from college, she probably would have picked up on it before it got posted. The Hermione-characterisation thing, I mean; I suck at seeing things like that in general, unfortunately for moi.

Yes! Good Charlotte is something like the album you never admit to having, tantamount to rock-coolness suicide or something. But I like them well enough. The Anthem is cool; how I hated all the 'ordinary' girls singing along to it! It was my song! I was the eccentric outsider! (Although never as much as I would have liked.)

I really liked your pretty kissing boys pyramid, too. A LOT.

Friended back, anyhow! Let the good times roll!
ex_crystalle432 on November 13th, 2005 10:55 pm (UTC)
Oh how I wish I could take credit for that pyramid of pretty boy love, but alas, I cannot! I actually stole borrowed that from a guy's LJ. I made the GC colorbars, though! XD I have all of their stuff and love them to pieces, and I am not ashamed! LOL I think right now my favorite song is 'Screamer', but it changes daily. I also like Mest and Green Day and, well, you probably got all of that from my journal already. :) Go team. ♥
