I'm here, I'm queer ...

Honestly, I am quite fine. Aside from the anaemia, low serotonin levels, hyperthyroidism and early onset diabetes, all of which I undoubtedly have as a result of medical-student hyperchondrism. If that's a word, I can't be bothered to check. I honestly didn' t notice the time passing since I last mooched around lj and I assumed no one else would!  Some did, so this post is really for you. I've become kind of (ha, 'kind of') addicted to bebo -- if anyone else is on it they'll know what I mean. There's hardly anything to do on it but literally, I spend hours at it. Sit down for 'ten minutes' to see if there's any new messages and look up two hours later.

I won't be free to browse lj (to me it requires too much interaction to be a passive pastime, unlike bebo) for another month -- my exams end on 12 May and I may or may not be alive by then. Every day we get worse news about what's coming up, where the venues are, what diagrams we might need to draw -- oh, horrors! My knowledge of basically everything is wobblier than it should be. So I'm afraid I can't guarantee replying to anything here, or anywhere else, for a good long while. But I am -- nominally -- alive.

The real reason I'm here at all is to give a heads-up to the springsmut reveal. I had some recs that I totally meant to leave insightful reviews for and rec at the time and didn't. In this I am far, far, far from alone -- I mean everyone does it. I'm really turning into everyone lately; failing things and realising I'm not a speshul snowflake and that lots of people are as bad at life as me. It's quite astonishing. Anyway, if I'm still into fandom when summer comes (another wobbly topic) I'll leave reviews. In the meantime, I'm leaving a link to the list here: http://community.livejournal.com/hp_springsmut/54671.html#cutid1

Out of that, I recommend reading the following. I'm sorry, I can hardly remember reading these, much less exactly why I liked them, but they all stuck out as being really really ridiculously goodlooking. Bear in mind a) I didn't read all of them and b) I'm pretty stressed over not being able to draw the urea cycle accurately plus structures and that sort of thing takes up a lot of brain-space, I know that's not an excuse but it's a reason.

No Home Here, by kabeyk James/Sirius
Two For Staying, by furiosity Draco/Blaise
But Someone's Got To Do It, by spacetweenears Charlie/Neville -- I remember this was really cute, I loved the dragon motif
Here And Now, by anael James/Sirius -- this was for me! Very clever to pick my favourite ship.
Found Object, by cjmarlowe Remus/Draco
Lesson One, by cormallen Justin/Ernie
If We Don't Kill Each Other First, by kaalee Ron/Draco
In The Shadow Of Such Wisdom, by wildestranger Blaise/Neville
An Introductory Course On Inter-House Relations, by xylodemon Blaise/Neville -- excellent Blaise characterisation, I thought

Anyway, see y'all on the flipside. Where I will most certainly reply to by then two month old comments. Eep.

Go on then. Since you're offering.

I'm giving you this too, because of the love. Bebo. Will probably end up posting it publicly, just so's I can get more hits than that bastard Eoin. ♥

You're alive! Seriously though, good to know, because I am the type of person who worries about my friends on teh intarwebs and I didn't know if you were taking time off because of school or abandoning fandom forever (1!!11!eleventyone!) or dead in a ditch somewhere. I am quite glad to hear that the latter is not the case.

Also, since you weren't reading your flist you may not know this, but May Contain Nuts was one of the most often recced stories from springsmut. Just thought you'd like to know...

So, you know, even if you have trouble drawing the urea cycle accurately or cannot remember what atherosclerosis is even though you've looked it up five times in the past week (sorry, that last one is me, not you, but I HAVE DIFFICULTY WITH THAT WORD for some reason) you can, at least, remain a "speshul snowflake" in fandom, where you are, no doubt, plotting to take over the world by clever use of anonymous fic.

And good luck on your exams.

I know, and I'm terribly careless. I make myself a little nest with my study books and paper and some chocolate and I don't need any contact but what Ma brings with more food ... I'm sorry to have worried people!

I saw it got a few recs all right. I'm glad people enjoyed it, because I quite liked it myself!

Hmm, lipid deposits on the lumen of arteries? Very common in diabetes -- the catchphrase of modern medicine. Whee.

Bebo has taken a little of my soul, too. Actually, it's taken over Ireland, I think. Everyone I know is on there! It's a little scary, really.

I have added you as of now, I'll be the one with an odd name and a permanently jumbled profile. It really has caught on en Irlandais in particular hasn't it? (Yas I'm aware that means Irish.)

Liking the icon!

Oh, good, you posted at last! I was just gearing up to launch an email probe your way. And you've been keeping up the new fic far better than I have, by the looks of it.

Glad for even a drive-by posting from you. Take care.

I'm handing this out willy-nilly, just so people don't worry: My bebo. It's accessible and an easy way of ensuring my status as living, breathing and freaking over exams.

The same to you. ♥

Hooray, alive! I am so glad to hear from you, dearest! I decided today when sitting in the library trying to read a five hundred page book about the Boston busing crisis of the 1960s that I would e-mail you, on the off-chance you had outgrown LJ and were only checking e-mail, or something. I kept wondering if your parents would know to get in touch with me if you had died. It was all very sad. Anyway, so glad you're alright, if extremely busy. I know what you mean - we have three weeks of classes left (followed by exams), and I have approximately 37 pages to write between now and April 28th. Deeeeaaaatthhhh....
Good luck, and I'll talk to you this summer!

PS - my icon is as close as I could get to how much I love you.
every Starbucks should have a polar bearscoradh on April 23rd, 2006 12:26 pm (UTC)
Oh, they would -- I have left instructions for that in the event of my death. I'm not so completely heartless as I seemed. It was just that I wasn't dead, and assumed people knew that, and everything else subsumed lj!

If you have a chance you should go on bebo. It doesn't seem to have taken off in your college as it has in mine (otherwise you'd be on it all the time, like me), but it's easy and cheap and I can work it, unlike MSN. So. If not I'll be around lj properly oh, in three weeks or so. :)
